Our process for exterior painting outlined below is a demonstration and commitment to those values.
Exterior Paint Process
Step 1 – The Estimate:
We will answer your questions and your expectations about the Eckles Painting exterior house painting process. We will share an overview of what you can expect:
Please visit our FAQ Page for answers to additional questions you may have now about your exterior project. Our Project Coordinator will be calling to confirm we received the signed agreement as well as to discuss a tentative pressure wash start date and to see if you have any additional questions about color or the painting process.
Step 2 – Color Selection:
We can set up a color consultation to assist you with picking colors. Your HOA (Home Owners Association) will typically have specific guidelines for exterior color schemes. Touring other neighborhoods, attending open houses and visiting model homes is a great way to see their color schemes and help you decide what would work best for you.
Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore and Valspar all have online color tools. You can upload your own photos to get an idea of how you colors will fit in your home. The Digital Color Wheel can help you see the relationship between colors. These are good guides, but it is still best to sample the paint on the wall or with a color board than rely on a photo or your screen.
Step 3 – Scheduling:
Your Eckles Painting Project Coordinator will confirm schedule dates and your color information. Once the pressure wash and paint schedule are set you will receive a confirmation email and overview of the process.
Step 4 – Pressure Wash:
Eckles Painting asks that all windows and doors be closed for this process to ensure we do not get water or dirt inside of your home. We will remove everything off any decks, porches, etc. All patio furniture will be moved away from the house, if possible, for pressure wash, surface preparation and paint until the job is complete.
We will need access to your yard and water spigot.
We pressure wash is to rinse away the chalky residue and dust from surfaces that have degraded. We will attempt to remove cobwebs nests and other material. If pressure washing does not complete the job, these surfaces will be wiped down during the substrate preparation. We will pressure wash your home between 24 hours up to four weeks prior to our agreed upon paint schedule date.
Step 5 – Trim and Siding Repair/Replacement (If Needed):
If your home needs repair we will schedule this work with you. We work neatly and with the greatest respect for your property and belongings. Our repair crew will use drop cloths and tarps to catch any debris or construction dirt and remove them daily if the project takes longer than eight hours. Your yard and landscaping will be cleared and free of any material from the process. All repaired and replaced pieces will be painted with a primer on all sides nailed and calked into place to prevent any additional moisture from penetrating.
Step 6 – Surface Preparation:
You do not have to be at your residence once details are confirmed for the rest of the process.
Eckles Painting will scrape away loose and failing paint to create a smooth even surface for painting. Primer will be painted on all bare wood to seal it and provide an adhesive surface. Caulk will be applied to all vertical seams, specified cracks and around doors/windows, using 40 year, 100% acrylic caulking. This prevents further water damage and creates the best surface for paint adhesion.
Your Eckles Painting crew will cover all adjacent areas with drop cloths to protect. They will tape and mask(cover with plastic) all areas that will not be painted.
Our crew performs daily job site cleanup and will complete regular inspections with you and their supervisor to ensure you are satisfied with the process and progress.
Step 8 – Final Walk Through:
Once the job is complete the supervisor will contact you to coordinate a final walk through at your convenience. This step is to ensure that your expectations have been met and that you are satisfied with the work. Payment is collected when the project is completed.
